Harvard Club of Long Island Honors Central HS Teachers

The Harvard Club of Long Island recently recognized Central High School teachers Mario Bakalov, Robert De La Cruz and Tara Zamorano in its “Distinguished Teacher 2014” category.

The Harvard Club of Long Island recognizes outstanding seventh- through 12th-grade Long Island teachers who have made a difference in the lives of students.

Mr. Bakalov, an art teacher, Mr. De La Cruz, a physics and astronomy teacher and Ms. Zamorano, an orchestra and Advanced Placement music theory teacher, were nominated by recent Central High School graduates and current Harvard University students for the Distinguished Teacher honor.   

“This is a prestigious honor that highlights the dedication and passion these teachers have in providing students with a quality education,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bill Heidenreich. “I congratulate them on this noteworthy, well-deserved achievement.”
