North High School science teacher Kim Libertini is one of 42 Long Island teachers recently named a New York State Master Teacher in April, making her one of the first educators on Long Island to receive the recognition.

The New York State Master Teacher program encourages educators to mentor their peers and deepen their own scholastic and professional development. To be considered for the honor, Ms. Libertini went through a lengthy, rigorous application and interview process. In accepting the honor, she is making a significant commitment to mentor other teachers and to participate in Master Teacher-sponsored programs each school year, in addition to other professional development responsibilities.

Ms. Libertini has served as a science teacher at North High School for 12 years. She described her experience as an educator as deeply rewarding, and said being named a Master Teacher is a fine honor.

The District congratulates Ms. Libertini on her outstanding accomplishment.
