Culture on Display at South HS

Members of the Valley Stream community recently enjoyed a multicultural experience when South High School’s Cultural Society hosted its annual World Culture Night.

The high-energy event, which showcased the talents of 200 students in grades 7-12, featured a variety of dance routines, including salsa, African and others. The evening also featured martial arts routines such as tai chi racquetball and taekwondo, as well as vocal performances in a variety of languages, including Spanish, French and Filipino.

According to Cultural Society adviser Jeff Hsi, the event truly exemplifies the talents of the students and their ability to work together. “It’s hard to find activities that bring out such school spirit, but this event really shows how the kids come together and do something amazing,” Hsi said.
