Memorial Junior High School technology teacher Melissa Hayden has been selected as one of 50 STEM educators from across the country to participate in the 2014 Siemens STEM Institute this summer. The program promotes hands-on, real-world integration of science, technology, engineering and math in the classroom.

The group of educators will spend a week at the headquarters of Discovery Communications, located outside of Washington, D.C., where they will be immersed in hands-on STEM professional development. Following the program, the fellows will serve as STEM ambassadors in their respective schools and communities as they continue working together on STEM projects and empowering peers with the tools and knowledge gained from the program.
