Students at South High School recently celebrated Unity Week, an annual event that promotes school pride and also encourages students to take a stand against bullying.

Student clubs and organizations crafted an array of banners and artwork, which emphasized themes of kindness, understanding and unity. In addition, as part of the week, the school’s National Honor Society and Key Club spearheaded a Thanksgiving food drive.

Honor societies and clubs throughout the school contributed to the cause. A variety of nonperishable items were collected and distributed to local families in need within the school community, as well as to Holy Name of Mary Parish’s food pantry in Valley Stream. Families also received gift certificates for turkey dinners.
