Memorial celebrates Hero Day

Memorial Junior High School hosted its annual Hero Day for seventh-graders on June 11. Leading up to the event, teachers discussed with students what defines a hero, and students later wrote essays on their own heroes, and what a hero means to them.

This year, 10-12 students read their hero essays during the June 11 assembly in the school gymnasium among students and faculty. The subjects (heroes) of their essays were also present during the readings. At the conclusion of the event, all those in attendance received ribbon pins, signifying that each person can be a hero to one another.
