Student musicians at Valley Stream North High School took part in a Music in Our Schools Month activity to help raise greatly needed funds for Long Island Cares: Harry Chapin Food Bank. The event was sponsored by the Tri-M Music Honor Society and involved numerous high school and junior high school musicians.

Eighth grade students Jennifer Vela and Aadam Alli raised the most money for the fundraiser, providing donations of $167 and $170, respectively.

They participated in the Practice-A-Thon during the month of March by pledging to play and study music for at least 150 minutes per week. They then collected donations and/or pledges of cents per minutes practiced. As an end result, approximately 45 North students raised more than $1,235 for Long Island Cares.
