South Students Experience the Presidential Debate at Hofstra

Five AP US History and Government students from South High School, accompanied by Social Studies Chairman Michael Serif, spent Debate Day at Hofstra University. From early morning, they enjoyed panel discussions, watched a living history presentation including major figures such as Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglas and were even interviewed on TV by an MSNBC reporter.  The day culminated in a live debate watching party attended by students from over a dozen other Long Island high schools, as well as Hofstra students and professors. The students returned to South after the debate, exhausted from the long day but having participated in a once in a lifetime political experience.
