North High School senior Rebecca Schoenfeld has been named a scholar in the National Hispanic Recognition Program, which acknowledges outstanding academic achievement among Hispanic and Latino high school students.

The NHRP recognizes students based on their combined math, verbal and writing skill scores on the PSAT/NMSQT. Applicants must be at least one quarter Hispanic/Latino and have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher by the middle of their junior year. Only approximately 5,000 of the 250,000 Hispanic/Latino students who take the test are distinguished with this honor each year.

Rebecca is involved in a variety of school activities at North. She plays clarinet in the band and is a member of the Interact Club, It’s Academic organization and various subject honor societies. She was recognized earlier this year as an AP Scholar with Honor for her participation and achievement in Advanced Placement courses.

The names of qualifying students are provided to admissions offices at colleges and universities throughout the country to encourage schools to recruit Hispanic and Latino students and provide financial assistance.
