Hour of Code Inspires Computer Expertise

Hour of Code
Valley Stream students have been joining millions of others throughout the country in practicing their computer programming skills these past few days. Hour of Code, an effort presented by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org, is a one-hour computer science tutorial aimed to provide students with opportunities to explore coding and advance their skills in technology.

South High School hosted an Hour of Code that was open to all students on Dec. 5. North High School’s Kids Who Code club and computer programming classes have been participating over the course of the week. Memorial students filled seven labs and engaged in self-directed coding activities on Dec. 7.

Code.org offers an assortment of coding activities for all ages and presents lessons and challenge through games that students can enjoy. Also available on the website are courses for those who wish to further pursue their interest in coding.
