Last month, the sophomores in Central High School’s Advanced Science Research Program visited the Orzac Center for Rehabilitation under the supervision of science teacher Katie Prudente. During this field trip, students engaged with career professionals and gained an understanding of the interdisciplinary team approach to patient care within a subacute rehabilitation center.

The students were able to witness a presentation organized by professionals to enhance their knowledge of patient care first hand. The mock situation represented the experience of a patient’s post-hospital care treatment. This patient’s journey was presented in detail, from admission into the facility through their release and transition back home. In the spring, students will be competing in the “Northwell Health Spark! Challenge” which is based off of their research coupled with this experience.
