South Student Named a Winner in National Artists Competition
Valley Stream South High School eighth-grader Angela Lee was named second-prize winner in the 2017 National Artists Competition; an achievement that afforded her the opportunity to perform in a concert at Bruno Walter Hall in the New York Public Library at Lincoln Center on March 11.

A member of South’s orchestra and chamber orchestra, Angela has played the violin since the second-grade and has earned a number of accomplishments in that time. She is a three-time participant in NYSSMA All-County ensembles and was also selected to the Long Island String Festival Association Festival. Additionally, she has been spotlighted on stage at Carnegie Hall.

At the National Artists Competition, Angela played Concerto No. 22 in 6 Major by Giovanni Battista Viotti. As a second-prize winner, she also received the Jong Chul Palisades Park Deputy Mayor Award and a second-prize certificate.
