Three Valley Stream Central High School Science Research students have been accepted into the Sophie Davis School of Medicine’s High School Internship Program. Aleena Abraham, Maheen Babar and Kayla Dhanipersaud will have the opportunity to focus on public health in the community through a community-based internship project.

“It is an honor to be selected for this elite, rigorous program,” said Science Research Teacher Katie Prudente.

Sophie David Health Professions interns will take part in developing solutions to health care problems in urban areas. Students will discuss and observe the social and economic problems of health and disease. They will work with the community, leaders, clinicians, and population health experts to learn how health professionals address these concerns, and will build the foundations of biology, chemistry and physics necessary for successful future in health care careers.
