Approximately 86 Valley Stream Central High School District teens and their parents attended the Jack & Jill of America, Inc. Nassau County Chapter’s 10th Annual Teen Summit on January 6 at Adelphi University. The organization, which is celebrating its 60th year in the Nassau County area, produced a well-attended event despite the frigid temperatures. Both the students and parents participated in informative workshops that focused on education, career choices and financial aid. The Summit ended with a fashion show on appropriate dress for students and a raffle. Central High School sophomore Ariana Bazile and North High School freshman Ahmya McMillian won two of five laptops that were raffled off to participants thanks to a donation from Northwell Health. The district appreciates the invitation that was extended to attend this event by Jack & Jill member and SPARKLE Empowerment Executive Director, Mrs. Kimberly Thomas.
