Athletes from Valley Stream North and South high schools competed in the Conference 5 Winter Track Championship, held on January 10 at St. Anthony’s High School. North’s boys and girls team both won their respective Conference Championship while numerous Valley Stream athletes won their events. In what turned out to be a memorable accomplishment, all six girls who qualified for the Long Jump finals were from Valley Stream. North’s Isabellah Paul, Caryn Martin and Ariana Paul along with South’s Tiara McDougle, Lindsey Smith and Jessica Sierzega dominated the event, with Tiara McDougle winning the event with a jump of 16 feet, 3 inches.

Other Conference Champions included Chibugo Obichere (South), DeAnna Martin (South), Danielle Phillip (North), Ugonne Erondu (North), Idalis St. Juste (North), Marissa McCaffery (North), Lindsey Smith (South), Juel Charles (North), Christopher Peralta (South), Shane Johnson (North), Ismail Abdullah (South), Jacob Schoenfeld (North), Javier Blyth (North), Chrys Philemon (North), Blain Candelario (North), Lenz St. Vil (North), Gavin Gray (North), Timothy Hutchinson (North), and Dan Araneo (North).

Congratulations to all of our athletes and good luck in the counties.
