Students at Valley Stream Memorial Junior High School were excited to participate in P.S. I Love You Day on Feb. 9 as a way to remind every individual that they are loved and needed in this world. The day is celebrated nationwide and was presented at Memorial through the efforts of the BRAVE club students under the guidance of advisors Brian Kelly and Amanda Milano.

Students in the BRAVE club created purple decorations that they used to dress up the main lobby as a special surprise for peers and staff members. Each student received a card explaining the purpose of the day and a purple ribbon as they entered the building and the entire school watched a P.S. I Love You Day video during first period. Students were given the opportunity to fill out a card and write a message to someone they care about.

BRAVE members designed anti-bullying shirts that were sold as a fundraiser. Their successful endeavor resulted in a $250 donation to the Long Island Crisis Center.
