Artwork created by Valley Stream South High School student Cy Valentin is providing inspiration to others around the country as the winning entry in the Nationwide Achilles Kids Virtual Marathon t-shirt design contest.

Cy’s colored pencil illustration, which portrays the theme of exercise with the message, “We’re all champions,” was printed on shirts that were distributed to 12,500 students across 19 states.

The Achilles Kids Virtual Marathon is a physical education program for students with disabilities. At South, Life Skills students have been participating throughout the school year, keeping track of their steps with pedometers. Cy’s contest entry was submitted with the encouragement and support of teacher Michelle Hoffman.
