On April 19, the Valley Stream Central High School District broke ground for capital projects included in the bond that residents approved last year. Members of the Board of Education and Central Administration gathered for this significant moment that represents improvements that will benefit students. Attendees donned hard hats and held shovels as a ribbon was cut to symbolize the commencement of construction.

South High School’s field work began on April 2 with an anticipated September completion. Memorial’s field installation will begin at the end of June and is expected to be finished in early fall. North’s field replacement will take place in the spring of 2019. Roof repairs at Central and North are scheduled for this summer.

The bond also includes upgrades to select bathrooms and building masonry, and renovations to science labs that are outdated. The full scope of work will likely take about two years to complete. Please note that the majority of the renovations will take place during the summer months in order to avoid disrupting students during the regular school year.
