Two musical ensembles from Memorial Junior High School excelled at the Music in the Parks Festival, which was held on May 12 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Memorial Strings and Memorial Jazz, which practiced and performed under the direction of Victoria Alaimo and Laurie Hughes, respectively, both took home top honors.

Memorial Strings earned first place in the Orchestra Division and Memorial Jazz placed first in the Jazz Band Division. To top off the day's festivities, Memorial Junior High received the festival's Esprit de Corps Award, which is presented to the school "that displays an exemplary attitude of positive support and outstanding personal behavior throughout the festival weekend.” Personal integrity, quality character values, a desire for excellence, and a spirit of cooperation serve as the cornerstones of this prestigious award.

Music students from across the United States and Canada participate in this annual festival, which is adjudicated by a panel of master teachers. Congratulations to the two Memorial groups for their hard work and dedication, which resulted in success!
