Robin Small Named North HS Assistant Principal

The Valley Stream Central High School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Robin Small as assistant principal of North High School. She has held the role of special education department chairperson at North since 2013 and has been part of the district for much longer. 

Mrs. Small began her work at North as a teacher in 2007, prior to which she taught in the Bronx at Albert Einstein Intermediate School 131. In her most recent post as an administrator, she has supervised special education staff, reviewed lesson plans, provided instructional leadership support, created professional development opportunities, supervised IEPs for students, conducted teacher evaluations, established best practices for instruction, analyzed data and more. She has been instrumental in the cultivation of college and career readiness skills and provided day-to-day support to students, families and staff members. 

Earlier in her career, Mrs. Small was director of the Southern Queens Park Association, assistant program director at the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center and habilitation instructor at the Independent Living Association. In these roles she gained experience developing and implementing curriculum, training staff members, facilitating parent workshops and monitoring progress.  

Mrs. Small holds a Bachelor of Arts from the City College of New York and master’s degrees from Mercy College, Long Island University and the City College of New York.
