Volume six of Valley Stream South High School’s Trials of Society literary art magazine was awarded first place and Most Outstanding Junior/Senior High School Literary Magazine for 2018 by the American Scholastic Press Association. The publication earned 930 points out of 1,000. 

The theme of the winning magazine is resolutions, and it features covers designed by Jade Hornick with artwork and photography by Alysse Fazal, Vanessa Romero and Andie Saint-Fleurant. Its successful production was carried out under the guidance of faculty adviser Lorene Bossong and through the collaboration of Editor-in-Chief Imman Shah, Managing Editor Abigail Arjune, Copy Editors Tyler Fouch and Tazein Shah and Art Editor Jade Hornick. Now students are working on this year’s edition, which will focus on resilience. 

Trials of Society has a successful record of accomplishments, garnering awards annually. In addition to numerous recognitions from the American Scholastic Press Association, the magazine has been recognized by the National Council of Teachers of English.
