South High School’s annual homecoming festivities had an extra level of shine this year, as celebrations included the unveiling of the brand-new synthetic turf field. On Oct. 13, prior to the senior walks and football game, Board of Education Members, Administrators and students gathered for a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the completion of the improved athletic playing grounds.

The day kicked off with a parade of banners from student classes and clubs to the sound of the marching band. Other rousing events, including pep rallies, were held on Friday, Oct. 12. Seniors Chibugo Obichere and Michael Hicks were crowned 2018 homecoming queen and king.

The Falcons put on a strong demonstration of skill and sportsmanship as they faced off against Levittown’s Division Avenue High School. The game’s halftime show was a spectacular showcase of talents from the marching band, colorguard, cheerleaders, kickline and step squad.
