Central High School junior Emmett Conway and North High School senior Amelia Cossentino have been selected to represent the Valley Stream Central High School District as members of the National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Honors Band. They will perform at the NAfME All-Eastern Conference on April 7, 2019, in the Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Emmett and Amelia were both selected to the All-State Wind Ensemble earlier this school year and have participated in All-County groups and the District Music Festival in past years. A French Hornist, Emmett also participates in the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and Mannes Pre-College. Amelia is a Tubist and was named a winner of the Durrell Blank Scholarship for study at the New York State Summer School of the Arts last spring.

These talented students were nominated by their current instrumental music teachers, Doug Coleman and Todd Holly. They have also benefitted from the expertise and guidance of their previous band teachers. The All-Eastern Honors Band will be conducted by Brad Genevro of the University of Texas at El Paso.
