Valley Stream High Schools Celebrate Eight for All-State

The Valley Stream Central High School District is proud to announce a total of eight NYSSMA All-State acceptances, earned by seven musicians. These students were chosen to participate based on their auditions, last spring. The will take the stage at the 2019 NYSSMA Winter Music Conference in Rochester this December.

Sopranos Stephanie Parkinson and Arianna Picillo were both selected to represent Central High School celebrates in the Treble Chorus. Ariana was an All-State alternate last year and both students have performed in All-County groups. 

North High School’s Garrick Neuner, a bass vocalist, earned the impressive admission to both the Mixed Chorus and Vocal Jazz. He has previously performed in All-County and plans to join the Vocal Jazz group in Rochester this December.

South High School congratulates four All-State musicians. Violinists Faith Acevedo and Angela Lee will participate in the Symphony Orchestra and String Orchestra, respectively. Zhi Lin will join in the Symphonic Band on flute. Cellist, Maya Wilkerson was selected as an alternate. Angela and Maya have both performed in the Long Island String Festival Association concerts in the past, as well as All-County, along with Zhi. 

All of these talented musicians have also been featured in the District Music Festival in previous years. Congratulations to all of these students, their families, and their teachers, on these and all of their outstanding achievements!
