On October 23, school counselors from Memorial Junior High School and seniors from Central High School made classroom presentations in ninth grade English classes as part of Memorial’s 10th Annual College Day.

The Memorial counselors believe it is essential to familiarize students to the college and career-planning process in the ninth grade, as they are now officially high school freshmen. All of their grades and activities become part of their permanent high school transcript as they begin to earn credits at MJHS.

The Central seniors offered tips for success and shared their own experiences. They have reflected on how they recall the College Day being an “eye-opener“ and unique as it helps start to bridge the transition from Memorial to Central.

During this informative day, topics discussed included academics, building high school transcripts, school/community service, volunteering, extra-curricular activities and discussion of the future utilization of the Naviance college- and career-planning tools. Students were also provided with vital information to help guide them through the next four years as they start to prepare for college and beyond.
