Senior Timeline

SENIOR YEAR

September
o Be sure you have all the courses and credits you need for graduation
o Register for the SAT I, SAT II, and/or ACT tests
o Ask for letters of recommendation from teachers, employers and others who know you well
o File NCAA Athletic form if you plan to play college sports
o Prepare college applications - If you decide to apply early decision, submit your application to your counselor two weeks before its deadline
o File CSS PROFILE Financial Aid form if your college requires it
o Attend Senior College Night

October
o Review your high school transcript with your counselor
o Finish college essays
o Continue visiting colleges
o Check the College Representative visiting schedule in the Guidance Office
o Register for SAT I, SAT II, and/or ACT exams
o Continue to work on college applications - MEET EARLY DECISION
DEADLINES
o Attend college fairs/open houses
o Begin to apply for scholarships - listen for information
November
o Finalize college choices
o Take SAT I, SAT II and/or ACT exams
o Talk with college friends home for Thanksgiving
o Submit college applications - Keep copies of everything you send out
o Send SAT I, SAT II and/or ACT results directly to colleges
o Continue to check for Scholarship information
o Check status of Letters of Recommendation

December/January
o Attend Financial Aid Meeting
o FAFSA (Federal Financial Aid Forms) are available this month in the guidance office
o NOTE: All colleges need to receive mid-year grades - AVOID SENIOR SLUMP
o Are all your applications submitted?

February/March
o File all appropriate forms as soon as possible
o Any applications still not submitted should be completed as soon as possible
if the deadline allows
o Notify your counselor of all college acceptances, rejections, and wait-listed status
o Continue to check for scholarships

April/May
o Make final decisions about college - Submit necessary deposit
o Take AP exams
o Report all college decisions to your counselor - Notify him/her about which college you will attend
o Report all scholarships, grants, and awards to your counselor

June
o Confirm post high school plans with your counselor
o Meet all graduation requirements
o Meet all college deadlines to ensure your place in the college of your choice.
o GRADUATION - Congratulations and Good Luck!
