Open House Events at District's Schools
Valley Stream Central, North and South High Schools and Memorial Junior High School hosted Open Houses on November 17-20, from 9-10:30 a.m. in their school libraries. This was an opportunity to meet some students, administrators and principals and to see the facilities firsthand. This Open House was hosted as one part of the school district's week-long observance of American Education Week.
The American Legion, National Education Association, and U.S. Office of Education created American Education Week in 1921 after World War I and is now co-sponsored by nine additional groups including the National PTA, the National School Boards Association, and national associations of principals, teachers, administrators, counselors, school public information directors and other educators. “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility” is the NEA’s tagline for the 88th annual celebration of American Education Week. By hosting the Open House programs, Valley Stream will be joining millions of Americans nationwide spreading the word about the important role of great public schools in the lives of students.
The programs took place according to the following schedule:
Tuesday, November 17, 9-10:30 a.m., North High School Wednesday, November 18, 9-10:30 a.m. Memorial Junior High School Thursday, November 19, 9-10:30 a.m., Central High School Friday, November 20, 9-10:30 a.m., South High School |
