Welcome to
A Message from Memorial's Principal
Welcome to Memorial Junior High School. I am proud of the fact that the staff at Memorial provides a warm, caring, and supportive learning environment as well as a rigorous academic program for students in grades seven through nine. We believe that there are several essential attributes an effective junior high school must have. Here at Memorial, we have a laser focus on instruction. We offer students a superior and challenging academic program. Our dedicated staff works closely with students to help them excel in their studies. Our teachers provide extra help after school at least two times per week. I strongly suggest that you encourage your child to attend these after school extra help sessions to help reinforce what he/she learned in class and to help prepare him/her for upcoming assessments. The social-emotional development of our students is a major concern at Memorial. Our staff offers much developmental support for our young adolescents. You will find that the guidance counselors are compassionate and will work closely with the students to ensure their success. We also offer numerous extracurricular activities and opportunities in the arts, music and athletics. Another key ingredient in a successful junior high school is parental involvement. An increase in involvement of parents and families is often cited as one of the most important ways to improve public education. A variety of studies confirm that parent involvement makes an enormous impact on student attitude, attendance, and academic achievement. We find that students thrive in a structured environment. Therefore, we are committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for each and every one of our students. It is our goal that each child realizes his/her maximum learning potential. As a result, we have set high standards for academic achievement and student behavior. I know your child will enjoy his/her time here at Memorial. He/she will be well prepared to meet the demands of High School and develop indispensable 21st Century skills. I am confident that they will build positive relationships with their teachers, peers and leave with fond memories of junior high school.
Sincerely,
Anthony Mignella Principal
