Memorial Junior High School in the Valley Stream Central High School District united for its “Day of Sunshine” on Feb. 7.

The annual event, coordinated by the Believe in the Rights and Values of Everyone (BRAVE) Committee, is held to brighten the spirits of students, faculty and staff during the dreary, frigid winter season.

Students and faculty wore Hawaiian and brightly-colored shirts, while cafeteria tables were decorated with fun-colored tablecloths and summer music played during lunch periods. Hawaiian leis were available for $1. All funds raised will go toward assisting typhoon victims in the Philippines.
