Valley Stream Central High School District Director of Heath, Physical Education and Athletics Scott Stueber has been recognized as a Certified Master Athletic Administrator by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association. He is among an elite selection of educators nationwide that earned this distinction based on their demonstration of exemplary knowledge, contributions and ongoing professional development in the field of interscholastic athletic administration.

Mr. Stueber has led the district’s health, physical education and athletics programs for eight years. His title changed from coordinator to director last July, prior to which he taught health and physical education and coached football at South High School in addition to his districtwide responsibilities to oversee the 7-12 health and physical education program and interscholastic athletic program for Central, North and South High Schools and Memorial Junior High School. He also coordinated and established the district’s first ever Challenger Athletic Program for differently abled students.

A member of the Valley Stream Central High School District since 1995, Mr. Stueber started as a physical education teacher at South and was appointed the school’s Department Head of Health and Physical Education in 2006. He has coached football for 22 years and wrestling and volleyball for 16 years.

In 2007, Mr. Stueber was recognized as the New York State Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance- Nassau Zone Secondary Physical Education Teacher of the Year and in 2008 and 2009 was named a Nassau County Coach of the Year for Boys Volleyball. He serves on the Section VIII Athletic Council, for which he is Vice President of Nominations and Modified Athletics and a member of multiple committees.

“We are honored to congratulate Scott on this achievement and are proud to have such a dedicated administrator on our team,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bill Heidenreich. “His commitment to professional development and leadership and loyalty to the district are examples of the qualities that make Valley Stream educators extraordinary.”
