Valley Stream North High School hosted Nassau County’s first-ever girls-only wrestling event on March 24. A total of 19 girls participated, representing the Bellmore-Merrick, East Meadow, Lawrence, Massapequa, Rockville Centre, Seaford and Wantagh school districts in addition to Valley Stream North and South. North High School Athletic Director Mike Frazer coordinated the event and served as emcee, while Coach Thomas Schiavo refereed the match. Coaches also led a clinic for the athletes.

“This event went very smooth and Coach Schiavo and I were very pleased to be a part of it,” Mr. Frazer said. “Valley Stream North JHS has the most female wrestlers in Nassau County, so we felt like we should host this historic event. We are glad we did. I think it was very special for each of the student-athletes that came to be a part of it!”
