Memorial Junior High School closed out the month of March by celebrating Power of Positivity Week, organized by the BRAVE committee. A variety of activities and events took place between March 25-29 with a focus on thinking and speaking positively.

The initiative kicked off that Monday with a viewing of a video created by the World of Difference and Youth Leadership/SADD clubs. The next day, students visited Wheeler Avenue Elementary School and read to younger peers. On March 28 and 29, senior high school students in the Performing Arts Program’s dance and acting concentrations presented skits and choreography that expressed messages about kindness, supporting one another and acceptance.

Many other highlights were featured as well. The BRAVE club adorned each student’s locker with magnets displaying positive messages, the GSA club distributed bracelets that signified the importance of embracing one another’s differences and the World of Difference/SADD clubs had a candy gram that focused on positive messages. English classes interpreted positive quotes, and ninth-graders led lessons on being positive and ways to handle stress for seventh-grade health classes. The GSA club and the seventh-grade class council decorated the fence with spirit cups to promote school spirit.

It was an excellent and uplifting week that will have a lasting impact!
