Central High School student Safiyyah Savage has been named a recipient of the Town of Hempstead’s Pathfinder Award as Female Student of the Year. The annual awards program honors women from a variety of fields who make positive contributions to their communities. Safiyyah was recognized in the High School Senior category. 

Safiyyah is actively involved in life at Central and demonstrates extraordinary leadership qualities. She serves as president of the YOLO/SADD club, vice president of Future Business Leaders of America and an anchor on the Eagle news show. She has earned numerous FBLA awards including a national champion title, and is also captain of the fencing team and ranked third in the district. Last year, Safiyyah placed second in an annual public speaking competition presented by the Theodore Roosevelt Association along with New York Community Bank.
