From June 28th to July 3rd, seventeen students from Valley Stream Central traveled to San Antonio, Texas to compete at the Future Business Leaders of America: National Leadership Conference. Nearly 12,000 students from all over the country—and from places as far as China and Tanzania—competed in over 60 different business and career readiness events ranging from objective tests to presentations. There were upwards of 150 competitors in each event. Prior to this year, Central has placed in the top ten 17 times over 7 seven years, including 4 consecutive National Championships. Once again Central performed admirably winning:

Abdullah Bismal, Samiah Davis, Mary Chong, and Safiyyah Savage all competed and performed admirably in their respective events.

Central’s five placings represented nearly half of all the awards New York State received. The students from Central carried themselves with grace and class. They explored the city of San Antonio from the Alamo to the Riverwalk and made memories that will last them a lifetime.
