The Japanese classes at Valley Stream attended and participated in an authentic Japanese Tea Ceremony on Wednesday, November 13th in Manhattan.  Students learned about the etiquette of a traditional tea ceremony, the making of the green tea and enjoyed tasting the tea as well.  Students also had the opportunity to experience the peaceful atmosphere of the Japanese gardens after the tea ceremony.  Later in the day, to continue their immersion in Japanese culture, students went to the Kinokuniya bookstore, located directly across from Bryant Square Park.  Students were able to purchase anime/comic books, stationery and small gifts in the bookstore.  Finally, students bought lunch from a Japanese bakery and ate outside on the terrace of the  New York Public Library.  Students will incorporate their experiences with the Japanese culture in their classes at Central High School.
