You will then select that you wish to edit your
files on your machine and upload them to your web server later.
Now you will need to create a folder on the your drive in My
Computer. The folder should have the same name as the site
you are defining. Mine is "stancoa_web" without the quotes.
Click next. Ignore the path in the image below.

The next step is to set up your remote
information. This means you will set up a way to upload your files to
the server so the webpage can be viewed on the Internet.
In this example (below) I will ftp my pages to a
server with the address vschsd.org. Input the information
just as you see in the image with the exception of the folder name and
login. Folder names, logins, and passwords will be provided
during staff development. Do
not check off save if you are on a public computer.
Test the connection. If
you aquire a connection click next. If you are having issues
with your connection raise your hand.

Click the connect button to view your files.

Double click on index.htm.
Make sure you are in "Design" view and begin editing
your page. DreamweaverMX is a 'WYSIWYG' editor (what you see
is what you get). When you are done editing your page save
your work. Click the up arrow (shown in the Files image
above) to upload your page to the school districts server.
Thanks to Aaron H. Tornberg for his tutorial on
which this tutorial was adapted.
Click on the Nvu button below to download the Nvu
HTML
editor I used to create this tutorial. It's open source (that
means free). DreamweaverMX will set you back $369.99 from Amazon.com if
you purchase a copy for your home computer.
