Class Rules

The rules are simple. They are as follows.

1) Be Polite! This does not mean you are never allowed to talk. I want to foster discussion in the classroom so I encourge you to politely insert any questions or comments, so long as they are relevant to discussion. Never interrupt the teacher or your fellow students.

2) Be Respectful! Always respect the teacher, each other, and the subject matter.

3) Be Prepared! Everyday when the bell rings you are expected to be in your seat with a writing utensil and paper ready to go. Always pay attention in class and do all the work that is expected of you.

4) Be Responsible! There will be a large folder corresponding to the class period. These folders will be laid on the desk during the entire period and students will be expected to pick up any work from the previous day(s) before class and turn in any work on the way out of the classroom.

If these simple rules are obeyed, the teacher will try to incorporate fun activities throughout the year such as group work and newspaper design, museum exhibit visits, etc.

Just remember that students are held accountable for all work done in the classroom (meaning that testing on the subjects will occur.) Lecture all year is not fun for anyone and as long as students are responsible, class can be fun.

Also there will be no seating chart as long as students behave properly. The teacher will not hesitate to move students should they misbehave.

Most of all please feel free to come and see the teacher if you have any questions or comments or if you need any extra help. The teacher will be available before and after school and during lunch. "I didn't get it," or "I didn't understand," will never be a viable excuse.

Transition Time

All activities that require a transition (like group work or reading and completing a worksheet) will be timed and the end product taken up for a daily grade (i.e. our group will have 20 minutes to complete x) This will ensure students will be on task and the time between activities will move rapidly.
