The English 7 program stresses language study and writing through reading comprehension, vocabulary in context and attention to standard usage and diction. The content of the literature program includes a thematic approach to short stories, poetry, mythology, the historical novel, and narrative poetry. Writing instruction focuses on process, sentence structure, the development of unified paragraphs, and note making skills. Instruction in both listening and study skills are stressed, and word processing skills are reinforced.
