Meet Your Counselors

PATRICIA ANTONELLI
I
Hi, my name is Patricia Antonelli. My caseload consists of 9 - 11th grade students whose last names are in the mid-range of the alphabet. I really enjoy working with the upper classman especially spending a great deal of time with my seniors assisting them with their college applications.

I am the advisor of the Key Club, the National Honor Society and chair person for the Character Education Committee. The involvement with these students is extremely rewarding and affords me the opportunity to get the students involved in community service. Some of the projects we are looking forward to this school year are: Kids Can Free the Children, Coats for Kids, Habitat for Humanity and blood drives.

Academically I have completed a post graduate degree in school district administration. I earned my Masters Degree at Queens College and my Bachelors from Adelphi University. I enjoy attending school and look forward to continuing my studies in Italian.

JEANNE BATTAGLIA
I enjoy the school counseling position at South very much. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Communications at Towson State University in Maryland. I worked in the marketing field for approximately five years when I decided to go back to college and “make a difference.” I completed my Masters in School Counseling at C.W. Post, Long Island University and my internship requirements at West Islip High School and The College Office at Baruch College Campus High School in New York City. I was a teacher of special education at The Lowell School of Whitestone Queens, a junior high school field hockey coach and an elementary school teacher’s assistant in The Cold Spring Harbor School District. I am enjoying the students and position at South very much and am extremely grateful for the opportunity. My telephone number is (516) 791-0329.

PHILIP CORSENTINO

I have thoroughly enjoyed helping the youth of Valley Stream as a guidance counselor over twelve years. I have spent all that time at South High School. I received both my Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing and my Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Long Island University, C.W. Post campus. I have an administrative degree from SUNY Stony Brook. As a guidance counselor, it is a pleasure to help guide the students, help them with any problems, find the appropriate college and encourage them to be everything they are capable of becoming. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, skiing, golfing and going to the beach.

My caseload consists of 7th graders whose last names begin with V-Z, 8th graders KI-PA, 9th graders REI-Z, 11th graders KOS-PA and 12th graders L-Z. I can be reached at (516) 701-0325.

MELISSA KEEGAN
It has been a pleasure working as a school counselor in the Valley Stream Central High School District. I received both a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and a Master's Degree in Counselor Education from Hofstra University. While going for my Master's Degree and until the time I began at Valley Stream, I worked as a Hofstra Administrator in the Office of Student Activities. I began my career in Valley Stream in the fall of 2000 at South High School. I am currently working toward a degree in School District Administration through Stony Brook University.

Being at South has given me the opportunity to have a job that I truly enjoy coming to everyday. I work alongside parents, teachers, and administrators to ensure that students are provided with the necessary resources, information and support to succeed. I currently have students in my caseload in grade nine whose last names begin with B-Di and students in grades ten, eleven and twelve whose last names begin with A-G. I am looking forward to continuing my work with these students and assisting them in reaching their full potential. Please feel free to call me at (516) 791-0327 with any questions.
