Academic Integrity
I. What is Cheating?
Cheating Includes but is not limited to:
1. Using cheat sheets or study aides during testing situations.
2. Looking at another student's paper during testing situations.
3. Allowing another student to copy from your test, quiz, assignment, or homework.
4. Attempting to seek or give help during a graded assignment or test.
5. Possession and/or distribution of test or quiz materials prior to or during the test or quiz.
6. Inappropriate use of graphing calculators, programmable watches,
palm pilots and other computer electric devices during a graded assignment
or test/quiz.
7. Submission of work that is not the student's own for papers, assignments, or exams.
8. Submission or use of falsified data.
II. What is Plagiarism?
Using someone else's information, work, graphics, data, ideas or phrases without indication the source of the information with quotation marks and citations where appropriate.
III. Procedure
If a teacher believes a student is cheating, he/she should:
1. Not disrupt the exam
2. Closely monitor student behavior
3. Collect evidence of cheating
4. If necessary seek an administrator
5. Fill out Academic Integrity Incident Report
IV. Consequences
If a student is fond to be cheating
1. Teacher will assign a zero as a grade for the assignment
2. Teacher, chairperson, counselor or administrator will notify parent.
3. Academic Integrity Incident Report will be placed in student's discipline
folder.
4. All Honor Societies will receive a copy of Academic Integrity Incident
Report.
5. Counselor will receive a copy of Academic Integrity Incident Report.
6. Administrator will be notified for possible disciplinary action.
