Sportsmanship Award

"Shining Star" honorary certificates are awarded after each fall, winter, and spring athletic season. The Character Action Team is proud to recognize student-athletes for their superior display of character and sportsmanship.

 

Good sportsmanlike conduct is important in athletics and in life. After all, respect, honor, integrity, and teamwork are characteristics we should all strive for in every aspect of our lives. While the pursuit of victory is a well known aspect of athletic participation, the Character Action Team is reminding all, fans and players, that without sportsmanlike conduct you do not have much.

The Character Action Team acknowledges and rewards student-athletes who exemplify positive character and sportsmanlike behavior. While there are many students at South who display these character traits, coaches are selecting student-athletes who serve as role models for their peers by consistently demonstrating OUTSTANDING sportsmanlike character.
